CLASSES, WORKSHOPS

Color Your World with Watercolor online course, Zoom platform

Only $20 per hour, class length is usually 2 hours, take as few or as many classes as you would like.

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Transparent watercolor painting is often regarded as the most difficult artist's medium to use. This need not be so, as long as the artist starts with the very basics and is willing to let the often, unpredictable nature of the medium take its course. The "controlled accidents" are what make watercolor so fun to work with.

Along with the effective use of materials, this class teaches the very foundation of watercolor painting--the wash, and explores glazing, creating textures, and the use of special effects unique to the watercolor medium. Along the way we will also focus on drawing for the painting process, and a simple, effective method to mix color.

Although this class is very intensive, it is typically for the beginner to intermediate artist.

Note that this class is “traditional watercolor”, that is, watercolor on watercolor paper, there will only be a light introduction into alternatives to traditional watercolor materials handling.

Workshop with Felipe Echevarria

This is the same as the above class, but it’s live, in person. It can be in your studio/home or my studio in Loveland, Colorado.

Since around 1995 Felipe has liberated hundreds of people from their color-mixing struggles. The Color Bias Wheel is the easiest and most effective color-mixing system for artists available today. It is based on what actually happens inside the paint mix, not in elusive theories. By the end of the workshop you will be able to mix the color you really want, every time, without guessing or wasted paint.

This can be run as a 1 or 2 hour slideshow lecture only, or a complete workshop spanning 1 or 2 days.

We can work over the internet through Zoom; with your camera, cell phone, tablet, desktop, etc, or we can work in my studio, or at your studio/home.

I teach almost all mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing, pen & ink, collage, etc) except encaustic and pastel. Rates vary between $20 per hour depending on the medium, and the specific class or medium taught. If you want to get 2 or more students in the same class, the rate can be negotiated to make a lower cost per person.

In addition I also teach color-mixing workshops and slideshow lectures (see further above).
